Employment opportunities
Inquire for opportunities as a retail assistant, an underwater photo instructor, or as a manager
Camera sales assistant
We are always on the lookout for exceptional people who may have special talents. This person needs to already have an interest in photography and thus will know something about how to take a good photo. You do not have to be a serious, great, or professional photographer, you just need interest and some experience taking photos, even if only with a point and shoot.
We only want non-smokers with cheerful personalities who enjoy helping others. This position involves working at a cash register, maintaining inventory, keeping the shop clean and organized, and maintaining a strict get-to-work-on-time record. We hire school students part-time, school leavers, etc. but you must be able to get to work reliably.
If you want to be considered for a future opening, email us and we will get in touch with you.
Underwater photo instructor
We have a great team here at the photo centre, and we sometimes need another underwater photo instructor, preferably with a SCUBA instructor rating or at least a Dive Master. Since this position is difficult to fill locally, we generally look around the world for just the right person. We have had staff from South Africa, England, Poland, Honduras, the Philippines and of course the Cayman Islands.
The successful applicant should have a strong interest in underwater photography. You should have some experience taking photos underwater, but you do not need an expansive portfolio. We are more interested in your interest in sharing your knowledge to help your students get better photos. Other talents we use include Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, Excel, and other Mac computer skills. Since none of these skills require a full time person, we prefer someone with several skills. This position is for long-term employees (over two years) and non-smokers only, please.
In addition to time spent underwater teaching classes, working here also involves a lot of above water work. A typical day starts around 8:45 am, and morning duties include teaching, sending out camera rentals, daily cleaning; and individual duties may include print assembly, retailing (including sales, displays, inventory, ordering and shipping) and answering customer’s questions on digital cameras, and handling camera returns.
During your two and a half days off each week, you can enjoy unlimited shore diving and boat diving (space dependent) for free. And, of course, our warm weather is also available for free to all employees every day! To apply for work in the Cayman Islands, the government requires that you have a valid passport, a police clearance and a medical exam with clear chest x-ray and HIV test.
If you want to be considered for a future opening, or possible current opening, email us and we will get in touch with you.
